“Dirk has created the gold standard for fashion journalism in the digital age with his work on Style.com,” commented Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci.
Among the initiatives Standen oversaw during his tenure were the site’s expansion into street style, innovative ways of presenting runway images, video, e-commerce, multiple social media channels, a popular iPhone app, and the magazine, Style.com/Print. From its launch in 2005 to 2010, Standen was also the editor in chief of men.style.com.
Standen introduced influential voices to Style.com, including Tim Blanks, Tommy Ton, and Scott Schuman, and showcased the work of photographers like Juergen Teller, Nick Knight, Alasdair McLellan, Hedi Slimane, and Willy Vanderperre in the pages of Style.com/Print.
